Data roaming abroad not working

I’m in Teneriffe but unable to access internet on my ipad.  Same thing happened in France 3 weeks ago.  My account is enabled for data roaming abroad, and international call barring is off.

The carrier is Orange SP, the only carrier which connects.  I’ve tried 4G both on & off, switched handset on & off after entering every conceivable/suggested/recommended APN settings.

No problem with data access in UK, only abroad (EU).  Help please, I’m losing the will to stay with Virgin Mobile (My iPhone is on Giffgaff/O2 and never have rosming issues)

Dunno if you've tried resetting the network settings? Downside is that you lose WiFi passwords. 

If you are still not working after that I suspect something stuck vm's side that'll need fixing by them. 

Obviously you'd prefer a quick solution so it's working now and in the future. You can wait for mods to reply on this thread, or post to virginmedia on Facebook or twitter. They cover all 4 services there. Most likely a quick response there so you get onto their radar so to speak. I know roaming works fine in tenerife as I've used it there more than once.

Many thanks for the info about successful roaming in Tenerife.  I’ve been reluctant to reset the network but It’s the only thing I haven’t tried - loss of wifi passwords should be little more than inconvenient so I will try that & report back.

Thanks for your contact via private message.

 

I've activated your data roaming as requested so I'd like you to now restart the device. It should connect to mobile data automatically but you may be required to do something extra.

 

Remember you need to have data roaming activated on the device itself to use abroad so please check. If you still can't get a data connection then you need to reset the network settings.

Brilliant, working beautifully - your help is appreciated.  

I’ve dpent many hours trawling the internet and the Virgin forum looking for a solution.  It would seem that users with roaming abroad problems need intervention from the VM side so I would recommend if you are having similar issues open your own thread here and hopefully Rich or a colleague will work their magic.

3G works, 4G does not but that could be the local Telco capability

Do you have the new purple sim card? Some people on this forum have noticed that 4g isn't working abroad on those, the old red/white sim was working for 4g.
