Can't connect to a network when roaming.

I am having problems getting my Samsung S9 to connect to a network whilst roaming abroad.It will not connect automatic or manual, I get a message Your sim card does not allow connection to this service. I've have set roaming to on and international call bar is off. I even contacted virgin before I went away as the last time I was abroad I couldn't connect. They set it up for me, but, no I still can't connect. So here I am on holiday with no connection again. Wifi is ok. Can anyone help with this, please.

Welcome to our forums and thank you for reaching out. I'm sorry that you've been having trouble using your mobile abroad.

 

I appreciate that you've checked the settings in your online account, but have you also ensured that roaming is switched on for your handset itself?

 

When you perform a manual network search, is there a list of networks to try or does it just come up with the error message right away?

Yes roaming is switched on on the handset.

When trying to connect in manual I get a list of service providers. I can't  connect to any. Just get the same message that the sim doesn't allow a connection to this service.

Do you have the the SIM tool kit app on your handset?

It looks like a SIM card and a settings cog? 

 

If you do can you try the following:
 

Select Apps from the Home Screen
Select Virgin SIM Toolkit Icon
Select Roaming
Select Select Mode
Select Manual
Select International-you are done, go back to Home Screen
 

To Switch back when in the UK:
Select Apps from Home screen
Select Virgin SIM Toolkit Icon
Select Roaming
Select Select Mode
Select Automatic and go back to Home Screen

I used the sim tool kit and selected roaming - manual - international and now I'm connected. Thanks Emma C for the advice, 🙂👍
