Can photo Gallery be accessed when SIM replaced

Help!

My poor son is away on his hols and has lost his phone…replacement SIM ordered, however he is gutted about his photos that were on his phone as they were from his first year at College.

My question is…if he pops his new Sim in will he be able to still access his pics in Gallery or is there a way he can salvage them?

The SIM won't help with that unfortunately. The photos would have needed to have been backed up to a cloud service like iCloud or Google Photos in order to recover them

What phone did he have before? There is a slim chance this did happen even if he wasn't directly aware of it.

So here's the instructions for the built in gallery backup on recent Samsung devices

As I said, it would all depend if he switched this on, or if it was on by default. If it wasn't set to backup to the cloud, unfortunately the pictures are gone.

They also might have been saved to an earlier cloud service, which is in the process of closing. However these are the instructions to try and recover files from there
