Call Waiting not working

The Call Waiting function on my phone cannot be activated. Customer services can't seem to fix it. Any advice?

What error do you get when you attempt to activate it on the handset?

Thanks for replying,

I have one number with Virgin .

When I go to the menu to activate/deactivate Call Waiting, I don't get an error message...It just doesn't work.

If i attempt to turn off Call Forwarding however, I get this message - "Your operator does not support disabling call forwarding when your phone is busy" and "Unexpected response from network"

I look forward to your thoughts on this.

Hi Martin,

 

I'm not sure if the Call Waiting problem is actually a Call Waiting issue. The reason I say that is, if you're able to activate it on the handset then this means it's active on the network. Usually you'd get an error similar to the one for call forwarding.

 

It's possible the call forwarding is interfering with it, which I've not seen before, but if that's enabled then all busy calls would go to voicemail instead of showing as waiting.

 

This sounds like it could be related to the voicemail diverts which I've gone ahead and reset for your number. Please restart the handset now and check again for me.

 

For the diverts, you'll see forward when busy, unanswered and unreachable and these will need to have the VM Voicemail box number of +447458333222 (for the new purple SIM).

 

Has this made a difference?

Thanks for getting back to me. 

I am still unable to turn off call forwarding... The same error message appears.

And call waiting is still not available.

Are the 3 diverts I mentioned above set to divert to +447458333222?

Have you tried to change the unreachable one too?

 

Because I've just checked it this end once more and it's showing incorrect again which I've never seen before.

The number is the same on all three diverts.

I'm afraid not. There's nothing this end blocking it. Don't do anything with the diverts your end, just leave them enabled.

 

Is Call Waiting enabled on your handset? (attach a screenshot if it's easier).
