Being charged for receiving (unanswered) calls whilst abroad.

Just returned from Egypt.  Whilst there I turned data roaming off so wouldn’t get charged and used

wi-fi at the hotel.  When I received my bill I seemed to have been charged for phone calls received (£1.50 a call)!.  I hadn’t answered these calls (so I assume they must have gone through to voicemail but no message left - they were cold calls/numbers not in my contacts).

Is there any way to stop these calls coming through and being charged going forward please?  I have an IPhone XR.  Many thanks.

Egypt is not one of the roaming countries.

Select Aircraft mode, then only re-enable WiFi might be an option.

You are charged the £1.50   wether the call is answered or not. It's the daily charge if the phone is active on the network
