I have just returned from Fuerteventura where I was unable to use my phone or Internet for 10 days. On return, I contacted Virgin Mobile where I was told it was because I was using my original [old] SIM card and needed it replaced. New card arrived today but I was unable to access data so I had to contact the VM team who were able to advise the correct settings. Now this has confused me !! My wife has exactly the same phone [Cubot Hafury] and she had to get a new Virgin Mobile SIM card for the same reason last year. However, her APN settings are completely different to the ones I was given this afternoon. Why should this be, when it is the same type of SIM card and both phones are the same ?
My settings :-
Name — Virgin Media Int APN — goto.virginmobile.uk Proxy — Not Set Port — Not Set Username — user Password — Not Set Server — Not Set
MMSC — Not set MMS proxy — Not set MMS port — 8080 MCC — 234 MNC — 38 Authentication type — PAP APN type — default, supl APN protocol - IPv4 APN roaming protocol - IPv4 Bearer - Unspecified MVNO type - None
Wife's settings :-
Name: WEB APN: goto.virginmobile.uk MMSC: http://mms.virginmobile.co.uk:8002 MMS proxy: 188.8.131.52 MMS port: 8080 MCC: 234 MNC: 38 Authentication type: CHAP APN type: * APN Protocol: IPv4 APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4 Leave all other options blank/Not set
Hi Emma, many thanks for contacting me. Yes, situation was resolved when I contacted the Virgin Mobile help desk who gave me different settings to that which is on my wifes phone which is identical. I just didn't want to go abroad next time and not have any access. Regards, Trev012
