Approximately a month ago a Virgin customer service advisor offered to apply a x10 bonus in light of a poor customer experience. I now have the princely sum of 160gb of data to work with each month. What was not mentioned was the shocking data speeds on offer i.e., 1gb-3gb despite being on the outskirts of a city. What on earth is going on?

Thank you for making this post regarding the speeds of your mobile data, has your SIM been migrated away from EE network on to Vodafone?
Have you tried running through the troubleshooting steps for mobiel issues here?
