4G problem

I am supposed to be able to get 4G coverage, I have had my new sim since May 2018 but have never been able to access 4G. I am in a very good 4G area. Can someone please advise me as to why?

Re: 4G problem

Hi Kaden55, welcome to our community forums.

There could be a few circumstances that are preventing you from receiving 4G coverage. Check what handset you are using, if it is an older handset you may need to check if it is 4G compatible or whether there is a setting you need to change to enable 4G. Are you currently on a 4G tariff? You would also need to be on one of these tariffs to receive 4G.

Thanks,

Tom_S

Re: 4G problem

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have checked all these things and I should be able to get 4G. After contacting Virgin they offered to send a replacement sim. Sadly, on installing the new sim today my iPhone still says I’m only getting 3G even though 4G is enabled on my phone.

Re: 4G problem

Hi Kaden55,

Apologies for the delayed reply. Since receiving the new SIM, have you managed to get a 4G connection?

Kind regards,

Re: 4G problem

No I have not managed to get 4G connection yet with my new sim. I thought this may fix the problem but it’s made no difference. Still only 3G

My apologies.

To confirm, have you got a 4G ready handset?

Kind regards,

Re: 4G problem

I would do a Reset of your Network Settings to satisfy Virgin.

TapSettings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note this also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

If still 3g after that, a IT ticket would need to be raised by Virgin.

Re: 4G problem

Thanks, resetting  network settings made no difference.  I will just have to put up with 3G for now.
