My tv has been installing software since I left for work this morning at 5am, it is now 9pm, what’s going on? Is there something I can do?

I have just checked your V6 but it's currently showing offline so I'd just like to check if it's switched on at the moment?

You can try this, it will wipe your box (if it works)
switch the tivo off for 30 seconds then switch it back on and hold TV+Down+Record during boot for about 60 seconds
this will wipe the drive and reinstall the tivo operating system
