TiVo box moved to another room due to new v6 box, now not working properly

Hi

My father in law recently got a v6 box and I moved his existing TiVo box into another room even though he does not pay for multiroom.  The recorded programmes are still there and the channels are all working but there seems to be a problem with some of the buttons on the remote e.g my shows, channel up and down and fast forward etc. 

I have contacted virgin and they have sent me three new remotes but we still have the same problem. 

Is this because they don’t pay for multiroom?  I can access and play the saved recordings using the buttons directly on the TiVo box, but can’t fast forward and to be honest it’s a bit of a pain.  Any advice?

if we needed to replace the TiVo box could we do this? And could we do it for free?

If you don't pay for multiroom then the TiVo box shouldn't work at all.

Virgin TV is a paid TV platform and the boxes are part of that paid service. There is no option to have a box without a subscription.
