TV control app on ipad/iPhone won't connect to TiVo or V6 box

As of this morning neither my iPad nor iPhone connect to my TiVo or V6 boxes using the TV connect app (they were fine a couple of days ago). My android phone and aging android tablet both connect fine. I have tried the following:
rebooted both boxes
removed and readded app on iPad/iPhone
all to no avail.
i get the same error message on both devices - see screen grab below. I cannot connect to either box despite it offering this option on the error message.
Yes, my login details are correct!!
any suggestions as to how I can fix this would be appreciated!
