Recently the Subtitles on BBC are flashing 888 up in the corner at regular intervals when the subtitles are on. Any clue why this is happening and how to stop it?

Yes it is - just on BBC1 & 2 nowhere else that I've noticed
I'm in SG6 with Tivio if that helps
Thanks for your interest

And it happens to me as well on BBC channels. You know how to contact me if you want further details! Billing area 03.

Thanks for confirming that VIPerson.
888 us usually a reference to analogue subtitles rather than the digital ones we provide.
Are you sure that the subtitles are enabled via your Virgin box & remote rather than the TV itself?
Thanks

I always use subtitles via virgin - I am deaf

This only appears when I have subtitles activated on my TiVO box via VM. There is something odd about the BBC signal.

Its very strange that it does not happen on any other channels only the BBC

It is a BBC problem, not Virgin's as described in this post 888 on screen

Hi VIPerson, thanks for contacting and we are sorry to hear that you are having issues with the subtitles. The subtitles are managed by the broadcaster and hopefully they are able to fix this soon ^Chris
