I signed up with Virgin late last year and have had a few issues with the service from the get go. But to date the most infuriating of all I s how slow the TiVo box is to react, especially going back to live tv from watching a recording/demand, can anyone advise how to solve this?...it is driving me crazy!
Really sorry to hear you're having trouble with your TiVo®.
There's a little trick you can try to help speed up the TiVo® box. It works by removing unnecessary background data from the box.
All you need to do is go to the Home screen and on the remote control press Thumbs Down, Thumbs Up, Play, Play. The screen will then go blank for a few seconds. Once it comes back on, you should notice the box speed up!

There have been many, many reports of this behaviour since VM updated (broke) the Tivo last year. I have seen statements that the complaints are reducing but I suspect this is because many have paid to change to the new V6 box. Sadly it looks as if VM are not able to offer a long term fix so you have a choice of
1. Paying for a V6.
2. Repeatedly clearing and rebooting the box.
3. Get used to slow, slow responses.
As well as the home, thumbs, thumbs, play play clearing of the cache every 2 days I also do the following
a) Do not use thumbs and suggestions
b) Permanently delete all recently deleted recordings regularly.
c) Watch and delete recordings quickly to keep at least 50% clear disk space.
e) Clear thumbs and suggestions weekly. Under settings, reset Tivo.
f) Turn Tivo off once a week, then turn back on 10 minutes later.
Not sure if all are stricktly necessary but by doing this my Tivo mostly works at about half the speed of my even older V+ box.
