i cannot view  either sky sports news and sky sports mix in the sky sports package. Is this meant to be included?

Sky Sports News & Sky Sports Mix are not part of the Sky Sports subscription pack. You have to have the relevant entertainment pack to get them.

Indeed - I seem to recall the HD variants also came courtesy of Full House in the past, rather than under the £7 Sky Sports HD charge.
