Not wanting to be "that guy" who uses forums for ranting, but for this development I'll make an exception. This deal between STV and Virgin absolutely detracts from the customer experience. And both parties know it.
The STV Player is a downgrade on many levels.
- Its not integrated - a clumsy link to an external internet app.
- Technically inept - lots of spinning circles of boredom.
- Unreliable/useless/contradictory search via TIVO.
- Imposed ad viewing.
- Wholly reliant on the separate broadband connection. (Seriously???)
And now we have to browse through 2 separate apps for ITV catch-up depending on the channel. That's just ridiculous.
There is nothing about this deal which benefits customers and plenty which imposes negatives upon what was previously a straightforward service.
Give your customers the choice they deserve Virgin - put them first. Provide full access via BOTH hubs and let your customers decide for themselves. Because seriously, this is one imposition too many. Enough to make me rant like a loon online and very ready to switch away from VM.
