Fault with playback of TiVo SMT-C7100 recordings which stick and breakup, going around in a loop for 30 seconds then carry on with part of recording missing. Have contacted virgin but problem is unresolved.

Can you watch live TV channels ok? How about if you pause/rewing live TV?
I suspect you could have issues with your hard drive, which ultimately need a box replacement.
When you say you contacted VM and the problem is unresolved... what did they say/do when you called them?

If the hard drive does indeed have issues, sometimes this can be identified remotely.
Fixing it, means a box replacement.
