Manage my Tivo on PC

bdw
Up to speed

Trying to manage my Tivo and recordings on my PC. The website says ...

Accessing your Planned Recordings

  1. Go to virgintvgo.virginmedia.com using your computer's browser
  2. Select Manage My TiVo
  3. Select My planned recordings
  4. From here you can see your planned recordings
  5. Click a planned recording for the option to change or delete it

I don't see any Manage My Tivo option.

It relies on two broadband connection routes - your TiVo's (or V6's) outgoing connection from your home to Virgin and the connection from wherever the PC is (which may be also at home) to Virgin - if the PC is at home it'll still have to "talk" to the TiVo/V6 via Virgin's servers:  If either (or both) ends are too slow at responding then the connection can fail.  It could also be due to the Virgin servers sitting in between the two routing it all.

It's clearly not reliable, but that's not the same as the black-and-white statement of "it doesn't work" - for you it isn't, for me it is, and it did for the original poster back in September.  Perhaps it'll be the other way around tomorrow and your will work but mine won't!?  I would hope Virgin will look into this, but it may be that the issue is a combination of effects from the different kit in the comms path, which could include your TiVo, your PC, your broadband, Virgin's servers, etc. etc.  They may just suggest the alternative option of using the phone app.

I haven't shut down the Chrome window I was using to connect to my V6 since I last posted and it's still connected fine to my V6s at home (even though I am at work on a less forgiving firewall and a much slower connection than my home broadband speed).

It may be the old TiVos are worse for connecting to, but I can't test that as I don't have one (but I did use this function successfully some years ago with TiVos, although things have probably changed since then).

It doesn't work for me and it never has. I have tried it on Firefox and Chrome, neither of them work despite numerous "try agains" and refreshes. I hear your reasoning about why it could fail but we are talking about the biggest telecom company in the UK for god's sake. This should just not be happening.

Sussed it - I looked at the network on the settings menu on the TiVO box and found that it wasn't connected to the network.

I then went through the network settings again and requested a connection to the network and voila - a connection on my phone ...

But ... still no connection on my desktop :-

manage-virgintvgo.virginmedia.com took too long to respond.

Still not working on PC so I did a search for this problem on this forum.

It has been reported on and off since 12-02-2018.

I am surprised that VM haven't suggested "switch your PC off and on", or "remove cookies from your browser and try again".

Any chance that someone with internet skills at VM could look at this?

Two years to fix a minor problem!

Hi rnewfie999

Sorry this is still ongoing for you.

Can you please try using this link instead

I don't know if I am speaking a different language here, but that link makes no difference at all.

The link you provided - https://virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/en.html takes you to the virgintvgo home page. You then have to click on the 'saved' link - exactly as before. You are then presented with a page with a box entitled "Manage My Box" and when you click on that it takes you to exactly the same page which doesn't work, i.e. "https://manage-virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/tivo"

It's not the route to the page that is the problem, it is the destination page https://manage-virgintvgo.virginmedia.com/tivo itself that doesn't work.

Thanks for replying rnewfie999
