Looking for a Virgin Media Engineer to make me up 12m extension cable so I can move TV to different room
Would prefer to be made with the proper RG6 cable with crimped connections rather than cheap equivalents from B&Q etc
Based in North Glasgow.

You would have to book a tech visit to do this. A Virgin tech will make the alterations on site & make the necessary adjustments to signal levels at the local cabinet to compensate for the longer cable run. The standard charge for this is £99.

I would point out that the internal cabling Virgin use is not RG6. These are specialist triple screened cables to prevent ingress of Freeview & DAB broadcast services onto the network. Any alterations to Virgins cabling is against terms & conditions of service as DIY alterations can disrupt services in the entire network segment.

Hey m74uk,

As @nodrogd said we can do this but there would be a £99 charge for the work to be carried out. I can get this booked in for you, if you would like this to go ahead? We can arrange this via a private message.

Hi Steven,

Would they be prepared to run the cable under the floor as I don’t want cables around the skirting boards and door frame hence why I was looking for the cable to run it myself

Sorry m74uk, the technician wouldn't be able to run this under the floor for you, they would be able to supply you with the cable to do this and move your tv box to the new location but they cannot run the cabling under your floor.

If you install a rope under the floor the tech can pull through the coax cable. Don't forget to pull through an Ethernet cable as well for the V6.

That was the plan but by the time I’ve done that I’d be as well buying the cable doing the job myself.
£99 for an Engineer to terminate a cable seems a bit excessive.

Ethernet cable already exist at new location

Its already been pointed out to you you can't do this yourself as the signal levels need to adjusted between the box and the street cabinet, apart from the fact you can't buy the correct cable.

Forum team how do I go about get cable so I can run it prior to the engineer attending to set up the box?

When my parents had virgin installed in one room, the engineer reused the existing, bog standard coax cable that was previously being used for freeview
