Ethernet Cable

Sometime in the distant past I connected my VM router to our Tivo box with an ethernet cable. I can't remember why but it must have seemed like a good idea at the time. We've just had new carpets which meant dismantling everything, and now I've put everything back I'm wondering why I needed the cable. Can anyone jog my failing memory?

Re: Ethernet Cable

For normal operation you don’t need this connection.

Two reasons to have it:

1. You wish to use the Virgin TV Control app ( ex TV Anywhere app) as a replacement for your physical TiVo remote. You can still use the app, without the connection, for all other functions it gives.

2. You have other TiVo and/or V6 boxes and you wish to use Multi-Room Streaming (MRS) which allows you to watch recordings from one box on the TV connected to another.
