Hello

I am afraid that with the Virginmedia service there is no option for connecting a USB hard drive direct to the modem, the only way round this is to use you own router or USB to Ethernet convertor. Something like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294299356354

NAS (Network Attached Storage) devices are connected to the hub/modem through ethernet cables or some directly through Wi-Fi. So check if you have a spare ethernet port on your modem/hub.
Some NAS devices have USB ports for adding additional devices to the NAS system not for connection to modem/hub,
If you ,mean an external hard drive for additional storage then there are some models that use wi-fi connectivity.
