Windows 10 21H1 May 2021 Update

I updated via Windows 20H1 Update, and it only took 3 minutes

I thought I'd better check it out, I could find no mention of it in Update History

So tried the various checks with /scannow and Online DISM but they found no errors

Still no mention of it in Update History.  So I decided to download the Microsoft Windows 10  media creation tool

Media Creation tool  installed and ran it, then installed Windows 10, it took just over half an hour

on my fast PC, but I was pretty sure that I had all the files now, and it now shows

in file History

I would recommend an install with the media creation tool

CRASHED

Both of my laptops stopped working this morning, windows unresponsive and nothing was working, frozen. I was getting microsoft warnings coming up -errors which seemed to be linked to cortana but could not get into apps to reset this.

Managed to get into settings and recovery and restore back to 25/7/2021.

Not sure if it was the recent windows updates, but also had issues with zone alarm firewall which stopped working so removed this and using defender now.

Virus checks were clean so must have been a software issue. Both laptops are now working, but still not knowing what happened or caused this crash?

I do have some 2019 windows backup disks and usb sticks, but not sure how to boot them, I will have to check that out, I did try them at first but do not know the F keys to change boot order, will check that out. One laptop was bringing up the bios commands during startup, so  something odd happened.

Cumulative update today, hangs a few times installs twice

very slow, stuck on install 2% for half an hour- hope it installs-

just gone to 100% now but not asking for restart yet.

now installing for the 2nd time, even though successfully installed once!

Finally, fully installed this update after 2.5 hours with a 15 minute restart.

Got the above update yesterday, took about 3/4 hour to install.  Sticks on 100% downloaded, then 21% then the omnipresent 74%.

Got this one earlier this morning, took longer to download and restart rather than the install.  Whole thing took about 15 minutes.  Blank screen if you update and shut down.
