Samsung v+ box

Hi virgin media out of curiosity what type of port is the test port is on the Samsung v+ box. Do you use this port to reset the boxes back to factory settings. Do you use this port to install its operating system.

It looks like it's for a hard drive.

Re: Samsung v+ box

However as all V+ HD boxes are now classed as obsolete kit, it won't be used for anything once the boxes are fully decommissioned from the network.

Re: Samsung v+ box

It was installed "For future use".

It was never used, & never will be.

Re: Samsung v+ box

I think Virgin had a few things in the pipeline for the V+ boxes and Liberate platform in general but obviously development was stopped when TiVo came along. On the front panel of the Samsung V+ is an LED indicator that lights up "Multi TV" suggesting that some sort of multi-room streaming implementation was planned. In fact when mine went faulty a few years ago this was actually lit up for a few days before the box died. Wouldn't have known about it otherwise.

Or maybe a forthcoming development by Samsung themselves:

Re: Samsung v+ box

Another answer could be that Samsung just used up some kit they had with these items on them, but nothing was every written into the software.
