I'll assume you have a 360 box since you would have asked this question if it related to either the Tivo or V6 boxes long before today.
If I'm wrong then I apologise. If you state which box you have I'll move the thread to the correct forum.
On the 360 click the record button. Then on the next screen select Advanced Options
Then you have a selection of time lengths where you can adjust the extra time for both before the program is due to start, and after it's due to end
After = None, 1 min, 2 min, 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours
Before = None, 15 sec, 30 sec, 1 min, 2min, 5 min, 10 min.
Choose the length you want to amend then press Record again on that pop up screen

- I'm fed up of recording sports with the 30 mins extra only to find the recording finishes before the sport does. Snooker can go on hrs after the program was due to end & if there's extra time & pens on football it cuts out before the pens start. Is there a way to put the box to record a program until it ends instead of it going off a predicted timer
And how does the box find out when the programme ends? It can only work off the information it knows, which is the programme guide. This is updated every 2 hours, that is if an update is provided to VMs third party EPG management company by the broadcaster concerned.
