I want to move my hub from one room to another and need about 6m of coax with connectors already fitted. Can I request Virgin to send this to me? When I first had Virgin installed, I asked for the hub to be located in my living room, but it was installed in a bedroom instead. Recently, I had a problem with my PC, which meant moving the PC into the bedroom so that it could be connected via an ethernet cable. As you can imagine, this was not very convenient and it would have been better if the hub was located in the living room, as I requested, so that an ethernet cable could have been connected easily. you'll need an engineer visit.
you can't buy the quality of cable that virgin use, and a 6m change may require power levels to be adjusted.

Hi this will have to be done by a virgin engineer as they use specialist cables, and as a non fault issue there will be a charge for it.Regards Micky

Buy 6m of Ethernet cable. Instead of moving the Hub just plug one end into the Hub plug other end into computer (as normal) works great. This is what I have done (I used9m) no speed loss whatever.

just make sure it's good quality ethernet, otherwise you may end up with speed drop over the distance.

It’s not only speed loss, cheap cables can allow noise ingress and not only affect you, but many customers on you cabinet.

The idea was to move the hub from one room to the living room, so that we would have a better reception and also to stop the need for moving the pc from one room to another when ethernet connection was needed.

However, we now have a very long (about 15m) system ethernet cable running through the wall and across the floor of the living room when it is needed, which helps....but we would much rather have the hub moved, so that both V6 boxes had a better reception.  The reception to the V6 box in our living room is marginal at best at the moment.

I have had a look around the internet and we may have a solution without having to pay the earth, but I can't post it here.

not sure how an ethernet cable used on the internal network would have any affect on the external cabinet!

why not?
is it something that virgin would not permit you to do?
