Laptop and av processor on same network but don’t reconize each other

To day I had a home demo for an arcam av860 processor we got everything connected the guy doing the demo had a windows 10 laptop with a calibration software called Dirac that needs to connect to the av860 but for some reason when the guy search for it on the network it doesn’t show up , both the laptop and av860 are connect on the same network and do both connect them selfs what could be the problem that they are not seeing each other the guy took the av860 away and back to his shop and it works and connects perfectly on his network I just can’t work out why it’s not working on my network could something be blocking it we did turn of the firewall but still nothing any help would be good

Re: Laptop and av processor on same network but don’t reconize each other

firewall and/or network settings on windows 10 most likely.
windows 10 wifi connetion may be set in "public" mode rather than "private" mode, which would mean the laptop can't see any other device on the local network.

Thanks for your reply I’m wondering why does it work on the guys shop network would that be set as public We disabled firewall but still no difference it seems crazy especially when they are both on the same network

Re: Laptop and av processor on same network but don’t reconize each other

you mean you took your laptop to their place?
each WIFI/network connection has it's own settings, your laptop would only see other devices on the same network if that particular connection was set to private.

the av680 isn't the problem here, it's the laptop.

The av860 and the laptop belongs to the guy doing the demo as I said we couldn’t get it to connect at mine so he took the laptop and av860!back to his shop and both connect together on his network

Re: Laptop and av processor on same network but don’t reconize each other

right, well it's nothing to do with your network then, it's however they have their laptop configured and/or av680 configured.
the firewall on your hub is only for incoming external connections, doesn't do anyting with internal connections.

not without seeing their network, no i can't.

my guess would be that they didn't connect them to your network properly, or there is something on one or both devices not configured correctly for your network.

Re: Laptop and av processor on same network but don’t reconize each other

Any chance the av processor is setup with a static ip with a different subnet to your network but one that matches his ?

if the subnets match have you tried pining the av processor from your laptop ?
