Hub 4 Ring light query

Just had Hub 4 fitted 

the Engineer said the light auto dims during darker hours and adjusts to room lighting accordingly 

not seen this happen is this set as a default or do have to set up etc?

You can adjust the intensity of the LEDs in the settings of the hub. Not much use to me as my hub in under the floor, under the stairs.
