DNS Servers 45.74.54.1 and 45.74.47.1

Noticed that one of my Windows 10 machines had these DNS servers hard coded in the Network Card setup. Only thing that has gone onto this machine in months is the latest Windows 10 update. Anybody else noticed this? I have my own AD setup on a Raspberry Pi with my own DNS server running on it.

Seems a bit dodgy.

Ive the latest update on one box and the settings are still pointing to google. DNS hijacking can be a sign of malware, you ran the usual scans?

Yep, all users can run, I’m looking further at the moment.

Assuming the scans come back negative (you know what you are doing from your post history) , VPN software maybe?

Yep, VPN was my likely guess, but have none currently installed, but did have some a long time ago. Both the servers do seem to be legit. I changed them when I first posted and they seem to still be ok.

VPN settings will live in the registry generally, could well be a setting that the update has applied- or it was like that since the VPN install.

Grandmother and suck eggs and that but- if it stays sorted, no issue, reverts again time to look further.

Id tell you to run a registry cleaner just in case but since WIN7 they are pretty much redundant- but might be worth using regedit to see if there are any odd DNS entries kicking about.
