Can't access a website on phone wi-fi

Hi,

I am trying to access a website on my Android phone but just receive an error stating ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

I can access this site no problem on 4G and Wi-Fi on my laptop and pc but not on my mobile.

Can anyone advise please? I have cleared cookies, cache, rebooted the phone but to no avail

Re: Can't access a website on phone wi-fi

Thank you.

The website is www.greatgifts.co.uk. I don't have any problems on any browser on my laptop/pc and have tried Chrome and Dolphin on my phone.

Re: Can't access a website on phone wi-fi

Looks like it is being blocked by Virgin Media Virus Safe as a potentially dangerous site.  Using Firefox brings up the Virus Safe warning.  Not sure why chrome doesn't bring up the correct warning page.

Loads for me on my Samsung Galaxy with two browsers including Chrome. Have you got date and time automatically set?

Edit: I use my own router with the hub in modem mode.

That would negate the VM virus Safe block, hence your ability to access the site.

even when using Virgin Mobile? which uses the EE network?
the OP said is also doesn't work on mobile data.

although, confusing it seems to work fine on laptop but not on phone - "I can access this site no problem on 4G and Wi-Fi on my laptop and pc but not on my mobile."

Re: Can't access a website on phone wi-fi

but the OP then says it works fine in WIFI on the laptop - that would suggest it's not a virgin media virus safe issue. so let's not just read the title, let's read the WHOLE post?

so from what he OP says.. it seems to be the following

works fine on WIFI on laptop
works fine on 4G on laptop (not sure how that is possible)
doesn't work in WIFI on phone.
no mention if it works on data on phone.

Re: Can't access a website on phone wi-fi

The website's operator seems to have fixed the cause of the SSL protocol errors that  I also observed earlier this afternoon; though I could not reproduce the inconsistent behaviour between devices, as @Audrey0281 reported, and wonder whether this might be explained by their DNS settings.

Though the now accessible website does not trigger a Virus Safe warning it would not be a surprise if it did earlier this evening and why it might again judging by its VirusTotal report.
