Attempting to do VM setup that the Hitron does by GRE

So I think I has a setup close to how it all works all be it not having my own IP space to do this and maybe a reason VM will not let you use your own router.

The setup below

So as to why maybe VM will not let you use your own router VM may have a system in place where by when the Hitron gets a random WAN IP and in order to get to the server end for the static WAN IP's it sends what random WAN IP you got in order to give you your static WAN IP's. However its also possible that there is no such system in place which case VM are for Hitron routers mapping a fixed WAN IP by MAC in DHCP in order to set the server end remote gateway address to that WAN IP for your static WAN IP's. But what if the subnet your on is removed? Then VM would have to manually edit the DHCP for another WAN IP and the server end remote gateway address to that IP.

So in short in order for you to use your own router with the Hitron static WAN IP's in modem mode you would have to tell VM what MAC you be using and your current WAN IP.

I could be wrong but it was fun doing a setup that worked in any case.😎
