Re: sky cinema via desktop pc

Hi fingers49

Sadly you can no longer watch Sky cinema from a laptop or desktop. see the following from Virgin and Sky:-

"Please note: The Sky Cinema website is now permanently closed. But don’t worry, Virgin Media customers can still download the Sky Cinema app for mobile and tablet devices."

And the following is from Virgin:-

"If you subscribe to Sky Cinema through Virgin Media, you can watch Sky Cinema on the move with the Sky Cinema app on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Android devices"

Kind regards

Re: sky cinema via desktop pc

It's a very comprehensive reply and I don't suppose Virgin have any responsibility over how Sky Cinema works but it is most annoying that customers like myself can no longer watch on our computers. Extremely unfair practice by Sky - either forcing us down the Apple route or watching on a small android phone!

This is why:

Sky want you to buy direct from them to watch on a bigger screen.

As a Very Insightful Person, I'm here to share my knowledge. I don't work for Virgin Media.

Re: sky cinema via desktop pc

I really do like my Virgin package and have no intention of going to Sky, but if they close down the access to Sports (which I can still watch on my laptop) I may be forced to consider it........or just tell my wife she'll have to get off the big screen TV 😁

You can install the NOW TV Player on a Windows laptop and buy a Sky Sports Month pass for £33.99.

Re: sky cinema via desktop pc

That's a fair point Roger but for us that already pay a subscription to Virgin for Sky 'add-ons' are being unfairly penalised because we're not Apple users.

I choose to pay for the Sky Sports and Movies packages because they are good value and I do get to watch on my TV, but sometimes it's more convenient to watch on my laptop. Sports still allows this but Movies has gone without a clear and understandable explanation from Sky.

Keeping the missus happy might require investing in an iPAD or shelling out £33.99pm for a Sky Sports pass.
