I am still having this issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled so many times but still get this error message.

Is this when using the app?
Is the app up to date and do you know what version you're using?
Do you have any issues with it on any other devices?
I am using Sky sports app version 8.15.0 (148). It should be the latest as I re-installed it just on Friday last week.
I do not use the app for live tv on any other devices.
One last question,
Does this happen on both Wifi and Mobile Network
I only use the tablet on Wifi.

Are you able to watch Sky Sports using the Sky Sports website or is it just the app that you're having issue with? Are you able to give this a try by clicking here and using the Virgin Media logo?
