speed and latency

Tuning in

good evening

early last week virgin did some work at the box down the road from our house and now our speed seems very up and down according to a few different speed testers and the latency seems to of gone through the roof. not exactly sure what other details you need from me to get this checked out as i have been with virgin well over a year now and this is the first time i have had any issues

would be greateful for some help in solving this

Things seem to be back to normal for me this morning until 9:15am

I was getting 600mb/s over wifi to proof.ovh.net now it’s down too 179mb/s.

Further proof in my mind that its a routing issue as traffic is slowing as the network gets busier and the bad routes get congested

Hello Gareth.

I am still looking into this for you.

Gareth_L

it looks like the latency and speed issues on the specific routes to the likes of cloud flare and ovh have been resolved (that's what all the tests i have done have shown)

hopefully it stays that way

waiting on my engineer visit this afternoon to sort out the levels issue you saw when you tested my connection, hoping they turn up as even though i have received text messages the appointment still doesn't show up on my virgin account online?

Hello djgarf.

Can I please ask how the visit went?

Gareth_L

hi gareth,

the engineer came (really nice guy by the way)

he has changed the bit on the back of the router and the levels are more in keeping with how they should be now

still getting lots of pre rs errors but still no post rs errors

im still getting t3 errors on the upstream stats but they dont appear to be causing any issue

the latency issue had gone away before he came as the routes that were causing them now appear to be fixed

Glad to hear your visit went well. I got the routing tables sorted.

I managed to get the routing tables sorted on Thursday. I presume that’s when things got better for you?

i think it was all sorted with the routing on friday morning

i did notice their was work listed on the vm site as being done in my area from 00.01 to 06.01 on friday but looking at my bqm my internet never dropped at all but the routing was certainly sorted that morning

Hi @djgarf thanks a lot for your confirmation - that's great news!

Please let us know if you need any further help in the future.

Many thanks
