Re: WiFi speeds abysmal

It will take around a week for a member of VM staff to reach this.

However it would be useful to determine 1st if this is a wifi issue or your internet connection at fault.

what sort of speeds do you get with a wired connection?

It may help to cut and paste your downstream, upstream and network logs for the more knowledgeable members to review. browse 192.168.0.1 the click on router status without logging in.

Re: WiFi speeds abysmal

Also, which wifi band are you connecting to, 2.4Ghz (slower, more congested, but longer range) or 5Ghz?

If 2.4Ghz you need to see that you aren't on the same channel as anyone else nearby, only use channels 1, 6 or 11 as they are the only non overlapping channels - most operating systems have a way of seeing what other networks, and what channel they are on, otherwise download a wifi scanning application and look there.

If 5Ghz then it'll be a lot faster, but has much shorter range, if you have a big house you may need a repeater/range extender - the upshot of this though is that you're far less likely to have issues with nearby networks, and there are far more channels available.

Have you done a speedtest with the computer connected to the hub with an ethernet cable?

Re: WiFi speeds abysmal

Modern apple equipment, or older apple equipment?

Have you also checked the channels?

Re: WiFi speeds abysmal

Hi baden87,

Thanks for getting in touch, I am sorry to see you have been having trouble with your wireless connection.

I have taken a look it seems some of your downstream power levels are too high.

I would like to get an engineer out to take a look at this for you.

I will pop you a PM to get this arranged. Keep an eye out for the Purple Envelope top right hand corner.

Speak to you soon.

Emma
