You will only get full speeds on an ethernet cable connection - as the Hub4 is wifi5 - you need wifi6

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Up to speed

You will not get much more than 500meg over wifi on 1gb package, max you will ever see is about 600-650 due to the hub 4 only being wifi 5 capable. Hardwired connection via samknows should see about 940meg.

Thanks for your reply I’m guessing I would need hub5?

Even then, very few devices will get 1gb over wifi. The hub 5 is also not on general release. Why do you want a 1gb connection over wifi?

Just thought you might get a slight faster download speed on 1 gig as it’s very similar to 500meg download speed

Not if your device isn't capable.

Over wired connection a device should be capable of 940Mbps all day, wireless is not guaranteed.

Regardless the faster speeds are meant to be shared across multiple devices concurrently.

On M500 one device can get around 516Mbps.

On Gig1 two devices can get 516Mbps concurrently and there is still a bit spare for other devices in your home.

Trouble shooter

Why does it matter what he wants 1Gb/s over WIFI for that is his business and concern.

You can get about 600+Mb/s on the HUB4 as it is WIFI 5ac, the HUB5 is WIFI 6ax and my PC has been WIFI 6E for almost 2 years so go figure.
