Very bad wifi connection

We are paying for 200 speed but on average are only getting 40-50. Have restarted the router lots of times and it has not sorted the problem. Just done speed test using virgins site and coming up with 18.73Mbps download speeds!! Can't get through to customer services. Thinking of leaving. We have been a customer for over a year now. Have found signal has always been a bit erratic  but has steadily got worse over time. Your router is rubbish too! We used to be with Talktalk and we could get connection even at bottom of the garden. Now always using mobile data in kitchen and bedrooms. Not happy paying £52 a month for rubbish wifi. Not a happy customer.

Which Hub do you have ?

What speeds do you get at >> speedtest.net << with a direct connection using a Cat 5E or better cable between the Hub in Router Mode and a 1Gbs capable Pc/Mac/Chromebook and no other devices connected ?

How are you testing speeds? On wifi? On wired? On what devices?

Wifi on laptop and phone. We know it is bad anyway as always lagging and buffering on all the devices in the house. Even when sitting in front of the modem. Tried a factory reset this morning but still the same. Tried to do online chat yesterday, but just got a Bot!! Said was redirecting me but then nothing. So frustrating that you can't speak to a human!
