Re: Upload speed

Do you know what the timescale is for the planned upload speed?

Re: Upload speed

Hi vginforum,

Thanks for getting back in touch, as far as I am aware we don not offer 100Mb upload speeds.

I can't say that will never happen, we just don't offer it at the moment.

We don't have any other information on this.

Apologies.

Emma

Yes, there are plans to increase it from the maximum 20Mb at the moment.

Spoiler: not to 100Mb.

Could you provide us with sources for said claim?

Don't be an idiot - he's never done that, and always been spot on so why would he? Anyway he never gives anything away more than hints as far as I see it - I reckon it's going to be at least 35mbps maybe more but not 100 like he says.

But in this case the products are both internet services, not completely different things like cars and burgers.

VM is falling behind compared to its own sister companies in Europe who offer up to 50Mbps upload. (https://www.upc.ch/en/bundles/buy-tv-internet/)

And then the page you gave quotes up to 60, more haste less speed?

Re: Upload speed

They have improved their top package to 600/60 in the last few weeks.

Re: Upload speed

Yes. I can't see people in the UK being willing to pay that. The 300/30 at over £60 a month probably wouldn't be a winner either.

Perhaps most relevantly whatever VM offer has to be placed in the context of what the competition offer. UPC Switzerland are competing with Swisscom - https://www.swisscom.ch/en/about/company/portrait/network/fibre-optics-network-expansion-map.html

Virgin Media are competing with BT. BT's fastest product, 300Mb, is available to something like 5% of the country.

To point out how screwy BT are we're moving to a new build that has Openreach fibre to the premises. I will be taking a speed cut from the service I have via VM.

Re: Upload speed

So, what speeds can you get from BT and what are the prices?
