Thinking Of Upgrading To 350Mbps - Questions

HI All,

I have been thinking of upgrading to 350Mbps but upon reading this forum I see a number of people have had issues with speed degradation once upgraded and reading this doesn't fill me with confidence.

Can anyone with the area reference 11 who has upgraded to the 350Mbps service please let me know their experience so far - How have you found it? Any degradation/slow downs in speed as others have described?

Thanks in advance,

Keith

Re: Thinking Of Upgrading To 350Mbps - Questions

Area codes cover large areas and are pointless (they are just billing codes)

you want people within your postal area.

is your package performing perfectly now?

what are you planning on doing to utilize the extra speed?

"what are you planning on doing to utilize the extra speed?"

Keith will be able to stream an additional 30 different HD movies concurrently (on top of the 40 he can currently watch simultaneously if he's on 200 Mbps).

Unsure if missing the point of the sarcasm (?) actually is proving the point.

some people will actually utilize the speed, most will just pay extra for nothing.

Re: Thinking Of Upgrading To 350Mbps - Questions

I deliberately chose not to answer the question, what are you planning on doing to utilize the extra speed?, as I feel it is of no concern of anyone what I intend to do with the extra speed.

But thanks for your input anyway

It’s more I don’t want people wasting money for no reason. If you are not actually going to get any extra benefit from it, why spend the extra money. IE for extreme cases, you don’t need 350Mbs to just look at facebook (one of my mums friends was doing just that).

Fair play If you will actually use the bandwidth it’s worth the money, just don’t want you being one of the majority of users on the top package just throwing their money away for nothing except a different number next to their bill.

Re: Thinking Of Upgrading To 350Mbps - Questions

The other thing the 350 service offers, that is unavailable on any other tier since VM killed 200 Gamer is 20Mbps upload speed, and no traffic management on uploads.

This is useful if you often upload files, such as having offsite backup on every computer in the house, like I do.

The other benefit was that as soon as the 350Mb profile was pushed to my SH3 I got the new .603 firmware which has solved a lot of the latency issues from the Puma 6 chipset (at least for me)

Re: Thinking Of Upgrading To 350Mbps - Questions

Something which people have found is that changing their speed package (either up or down) may result in erratic performance. If you have a solid broadband connection which you are happy with, then there's a lot to be said for keeping it.
