Suffering from dropouts and slow speeds.

Hi, for the past few weeks i have been having frequent dropouts with my router, and yesterday after it dropped out and came back on 15 minutes later, my speeds were severely reduced to very flakey and intermittent speeds of like 1-15mbps. This is on a wired connection, i have also tested wireless and multiple devices in the house. I have included some downstream and upstream data that seems commonly requested in here.

Your downstream power levels are too low on a lot of the channels you are getting and you also seem to have lost five of them entirely!

Almost certainly need an engineer visit to fix the connection back at the cabinet. You could call it in as a fault although you may have to really push to get an engineer out, no amount of fiddling with wifi channels or reboots is going to fix this, alternatively just hold on and wait until a member of the team sees this thread and contacts you to arrange things. This may take a day or so though.

Channels 18 & 19 make interesting reading too, with appalling SNR and crazy amounts of Post-RS errors.

Totally missed channels missing! Also i did think the SnR levels were a bit low but didnt quite know where they are meant to sit for normal use. I will wait a day or so for a member of staff on here to contact me. i dread phoning and going through that script for nothing.

Yes Harry, offshore call centers are a nightmare.  Virgin Media should be utterly ashamed to put customers through that!  As for the SNR levels I referred to, they should be at least 34.5 dB and the higher the better.

Yes, all good now, The engineer did fix it for a few days but then it all went wrong again, but this time Virgin flagged an area fault and since they fixed a few days ago it has been fine since.

 

Thanks for the quick replies and getting the engineer out at a speedy pace.
