Speed consistently lower than Virgin advertised

Should be getting 200Mb. I'm using Deco P9 as router with two other satellite P9s in mesh wifi. Today I'm getting 30Mbps download and 21Mbps upload, which is considerably better than usual, but clearly nowhere near what I expect to get. Have tried swapping P9s, rebooting in order, etc. Getting nowhere on TPLink help sites, so wondering if anyone here can help?

Not familiar with the P9's - but they are advertised as using powerline technology to assist the wifi - is that correct - if so that might be attenuating the speeds?

One thing you might try is to set up from scratch again using the "sequence" below. See if that sorts it
___________________________________________________________________

Set up your first Deco unit (in its settings) to have the WAN port set to be in Automatic IP i.e. DHCP (& Nat) mode, it may be set that way already. Then, disconnect all cables from your P9 units and switch them off and unplug it. Then, (if it isnt already) put the VM Hub into modem mode ( https://www.virginmedia.com/help/virgin-media-hub-modem-mode ) and wait for the base light to turn magenta/purple (on a Hub3 - but not on a Hub4!).

Once it’s in modem mode, the VM hub “MUST” then be powered off.

Switch your first Deco on and make sure it’s fully initialised (leave 5 min) and then put in the ethernet cable from its WAN port to the VM hub (any port will do).

NOW… power up the VM hub and wait 5-10 minutes for The Hub to initialise and and you should get a connection. Use the recommended App to connect the other Deco units to the first one.

This order only needs to be done the first time you connect a new router to the VM hub.

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

Many thanks for your reply. I have two people working from home most days, so I'm just waiting for a chance to try out your suggestions.

The issue I would have with this is the hybrid nature of this device.  It uses powerline technology and that in itself is not good as it uses the house wiring to transmit the signal.

I would remove any of the mesh units you have that use the powerline and just use the wifi mesh as a test.  Personally I would get the wifi only triband mesh or go with Access Points.
