Very slow upload and download speeds  even with a wired ethernet connection. Should be getting 250mbs  however I don't even get half that.

Speed test the service to a Router mode Hub(3/4/5) + your device with the link below.

Once the test begins click on: Run full test to see all the stats.

The speed at the Hub should reflect your subscription.

The speed any WiFi device draws data at is limited by its data needs and technical abilities.

Over WiFi I do get speeds of around 250mbs  however when I connect our android device  via ethernet  which is a type 6 cable  I barely get 80mbs  which drops to below 30mbs with a vpn on.

Is the Ethernet adapter 1Gbps or 10/100?

Sounds like it's your device, not the VM connection.

30 Mb/s is the speed limit imposed at the exit point of the VPN.
The results of speed tests reflect the slowest part of the connection.

Thanks for posting and sorry to hear you've been getting some slow speeds. 

Can you confirm if it is just this one device you're having the problems with?

Have you rebooted the hub recently?
