Slow speed

Hi,

I've recently been experiencing some notable speed issues with my Virgin media broadband. I have a 150 opitical fibre package and have never had any real problems with my download speeds before. I've done previous speed tests and have always had results of 100MB+ even during peak hours which I've been more than happy with.

However, over the last few weeks I've noticed a massive dip in my connection speeds. Streaming is basically impossible. Websites load sluggishly. I've tried changing the broadband channel and it's had no effect. I've just done a speed test and my download speed is 0.63MB with a ping of 24. Obviously, this is WAY below what I'm paying for and closer to dial-up speeds than fibre optic broadband.

I've copy and pasted my downstream, upstream and network logs. Hopefully someone can help because I'm not really willing to continue paying through the nose for a service that isn't providing 1/150th of what I'm supposed to be getting.

Someone more qualified will comment but your downstream signal to noise ratios are below the recommended minimum of 34 - suggesting noise on the line. You will need to call it in as a fault I think.

Anyone from Virginmedia fancy chipping in on this? I'm still having the same issues and would like to know what the best way to proceed is as I don't fancy calling the helpline and being told to turn my router of and on again about twenty times.

A VM staff person should pick this up on here but it can take up to a week and they respond to the oldest threads first - so dont bump it (and its holiday time). So, you can wait for them to respond or be brave on 150.

I apologise about the delay in picking this up, we've been very short staffed due to illness over the holidays.

This is not my usual board but I've jumped on to help.

Looking at this your downstream levels are out of spec.

If you still have issues with the speeds please pop back and let me know on the PM I have sent to you as we would need a tech to come out to correct the signal issues you are having with us.
