Hi
I just upgraded to Gig1, I'm getting 200mb and no way near to 1giga. Can someone please have a look at the power levels below and let me know if they are all OK.

Hi kbtang88,
Thanks for posting on our community forums. Sorry to hear that you're not getting the desired speeds of your 1GB service, we can certainly understand the frustration caused.
Remotely looking from our end, everything seemed OK. Upon further investigation we have checked your power levels and have found that there is indeed and issues with your downstream power level.
Due to this we would need to get an engineer booked out for you to come and take a look at this for you.
I will pop you over a private message, please click on the purple envelope to accept the chat.
Kind regards Jodi.

What's the power level supposed to be?
on 19-10-2021 15:42
No exact numbers are officially admitted to, but there's some rules of thumb that have a bit of slack to them.
Basically, you'd want no downstream channel with lower than -5 dBmV, and no higher than +10 dBmV, you'd want the range between them to be less than 4 dBmV, and you'd hope to see the values fairly "flat" or slightly decreasing as the downstream channel number rises.
Normally, to be a recognised power level fault then there needs to be something obviously wrong (eg slow speeds, interruptions or latency problems) in addition to the pure numbers.

The range of downstream power levels is too wide, and appears to be because the "slope" is too steep. I'm getting to the edges of my limited knowledge, but I believe that slope is set at the signal amplifiers that sit in street cabinets, and it might be that the amp needs setting up again, or perhaps something as simple as switching the tap your connection is on. I'll mark for staff to take a look and comment.
