Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi Everyone,

For the past few weeks I have noticed that I have been getting a lot of T3 timeouts appear in my router's (superhub 2ac) log.

When I called up the broadband support team last month he said he couldn't see an issue with my connection/power levels and that the area was fine. However, he didn't answer my question as to why I was seeing lots of T3 timeouts.

On the 10th August (the Friday that just went), I decided to do a full reboot of all my equipment, whilst the router was off, I checked the coaxial connections coming into the router to ensure they were tight, and I also checked the connection outside in the brown box. Everything looked ok and all connections were tight. After the reboot, starting from the 12th August, I noticed that the log was starting to fill up with T3 timeouts again. So far there has been 23 T3 timeouts from the 12th.

I personally think there is something wrong somewhere as seeing that many timeouts in a short period doesn't seem normal.

Thank you.

Regards,

Avi

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi avi68,

Thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry to see you have had trouble with your connection.

I have taken a look and things seem to be ok from this side. It may help to try the following so we can rule some things out:

Pop the hub into Modem Mode with the computer in Safe Mode with Networking at different times of the day.

Try on separate devices.

Check Ethernet cable. Make sure it is new / up to date. (Cat 5e or above).

Make sure device is capable of agreed speed.

Check wireless card slide.

Take care.

 Emma

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi Emma,

Thank you for the reply. The speed seems to be working fine and so far running pingtests shows up ok results.

I did notice yesterday the log started filling up with T3 timeouts again, now it's up to 99 timeouts.

I think the connection seems to be ok but sometimes when playing games online I notice I do tend to get freezes so I'm not sure if this is related.

Why do T3 timeouts occur and with the amount I am getting should I be worried?

Thanks

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi avi68,

I appreciate you posting back here.

I'm glad there has been an improvement with the speeds.

With the time-outs, do you notice the internet disconnecting at all? If there are a lot of them you would need an engineer to check it over to find out what is causing the time-out or there could be a fault in your area. Next time you check the network log make sure you haven't got the same time-stamp for them all, if you have just reset it.

As I was unable to find your account on this occasion, I can not check if there are any issues on your line. If you would like us to check, by all means send me a PM confirming your name, if your the account holder and full address please.

Speak soon

Sam

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi Samantha,

I have replied to you via PM.

A couple of weeks after posting the router log stopped showing t3 timeouts. However I started to get no internet connection.

An engineer visited yesterday to change the hub, everything seems to be ok but a t3 timeout has already occurred.

Thanks

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi avi68,

Thanks for getting back to me and confirming your details, I appreciate it.

I've checked the network, the SNR is running low and not reporting any errors. I can see 1 time-out reported within 15 hours which is normal. Also if you reboot the router this will show a time-out anyway.

I would say monitor over the next few days and if you see multiple T3's then post them here for us to check over.

Speak soon

Sam

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi Samantha,

Thank you for checking.

I will monitor as suggested.

The engineer yesterday also added an attenuator because the levels were a little higher so I don't know if that's causing the snr to be low?

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Sorry to hear that problems have recurred, so we can investigate further please post back via your home connection and include a recent set of network logs. Well then be able to locate your account and run additional diagnostics.

Many thanks

Re: Router Log Flooded With T3 Timeouts

Hi Ralph,

I just checked the log and noticed that the t3 times out for one of the upstream channels has gone from 4 to 37.
