Not achieving speeds anywhere near what I am paying for

I have had broadband 200mbps for years now and had problems regarding speed especially at peak times but due to buffering, even on channels like ITV, I upgraded to Vivid 350 very recently only it has not solved the problem and when checking the speeds, even at the quietest of times with only a couple of items using WiFi, the best speed I have seen so far is 90mbps. Is anyone else having similar problems?

then 90mbps is spot on what you would get with a 100mbps network cable. What speed is you network card and what does windows report its connecting at?

Re: Not achieving speeds anywhere near what I am paying for

1) click Start and type control panel
2) click on network and internet
3) click network and sharing centre
4) click on the connection name under connections on the right side
you will see the speed in that window

Re: Not achieving speeds anywhere near what I am paying for

Hello kiedanli

I am sorry you are having problems with speed but the connection is looking good to go, line and hub parameters nicely within spec, low area traffic. At the moment the hub is reporting a single wired device with a negotiated speed of only 100Mbps so as apcyberax suggested it may be that. You can check it with the LED adjacent to where the Ethernet lead plugs in the hub by the way, green = gigabit, orange = 100/10Mbps. If you are able to please measure speed with a gigabit Ethernet connection to www.speedtest.net leaving the default server.

Thank you

Nicola
