Hi

We recently upgraded to Gig 1.

Typical speeds are below 200 Mbps / 35 Mbps!!!

Your support will be appreciated.

Cheers

What package did you upgrade from?

To check it has actually been applied - go to the Hub settings and go to the Configuration Data page - what number is in the downstream Max Data Transfer Rate box ? It should start 1xxxxxx... (in bytes)

Also can you check "pure" speeds this way
_____________________________________
As you expect >100Mbps then connect a 1GB enabled computer/laptop, with up to date drivers, via a NEW and working Cat5e/6a ethernet cable, directly to the Hub which you have put into “modem mode”

This ensures that NO other devices are connected

Test speeds at https://speedtest.samknows.com/ - or https://www.speedtest.net/ - try on 2 different browsers - as Chrome sometimes gives odd results.

If they are still low – boot your device into Windows safe+networking mode - to disable any potentially interfering software - and try again.
There are many posts on here (I have a list of ~30!) where QoS software, anti-virus, unknown/flaky software, old network card drivers, corrupted browsers, bad cables or other connected devices are limiting speeds on tests.

Report back what that gets. For examples of why... see message 7 in the first thread and 9 in in the second and 3 in the third

I do not work for VM. My services: HD TV on VIP (+ Sky Sports & Movies & BT sport), x3 V6 boxes (1 wired, 2 on WiFi) Hub5 in modem mode with Apple Airport Extreme Router +2 Airport Express's & TP-Link Archer C64 WAP. On Volt 350Mbps, Talk Anytime Phone, x2 Mobile SIM only iPhones.

thank you.

I previously had 500 Mbps package from Virgin and would routinely see 330+ mbps.

Ever since I moved to Gig1, its dropped to <=200 mbps

I will check modem mode after I have figured out how to connect my Macbook to the ethernet port.

worth calling Virgin for support now.

Kind regards

Yogesh

Here is some data, it may help the experts inform me if there is something wrong in Modem or the signal that comes from Virgin.

Down powers are at the top end - only VM can say if they are too high.

I connect all my various Macbooks to ethernet with an RJ45 adapter - I have them for UBB3, USBc, Thunderbird and all work well.

I will raise a complaint.

Hi Yogeshprasad,

Thank you for reaching out to us in our community and welcome back, sorry to see you aren't getting your expected speeds after your upgrade, I was able to locate you on our system with the details we have for you and cannot see any issues at all, what speed is showing to be hitting the Router when you check Via Sam Knows Real Speed?

Regards

Paul.
