Issues with 1 GIG Service

SteveH96
Tuning in

Hi there

Upgraded my account from 500MB to 1GIG but the WiFi speeds only hitting 200MB to 300MB on devices.

I have a fairly new laptop and I've connected up with the Ethernet cable and Sam Knows says I can only hit 230MB on the right hand side of the screen with the device results.

Similar results with WiFi connection.

Tried on mobile devices. Samsung and Xiaomi models. Both new models. Both showing near the same results at 300MB.

Did all the reset actions to no avail. Had no previous issues with the Hub 3.

Don't know if I'm doing something wrong.

I'll post the stats underneath this message.

Thanks.

Agree. Not expecting the full 1Gig service but at least higher speeds which my devices can receive.

Got everything set through the TP-Link Router 6 as better signal as well. So using modem mode.

I'll give it till Monday and if speeds don't improve then I may change.

It appears there may be some noise on the line since one of your upstream channels is out of spec on QAM (Upload can affect download):

3.0 Upstream channels

Channel Frequency (Hz) Power (dBmV) Symbol Rate (ksps) Modulation Channel ID

153700000445120 KSym/sec64QAM2
24620000043.55120 KSym/sec64QAM3
33940000043.35120 KSym/sec32QAM4
46030000044.35120 KSym/sec64QAM1

Also worth checking this site which checks the speed to the HUB over the VM network, as well as the speed to your device (HUB must be in router mode):

https://samknows.com/realspeed/

Hi Sam

Hub is in router mode. Speeds are absolutely rubbish. Hitting 100MB on all devices on both WiFi and LAN.

My own router slightly better at 350MB but still lower than my Hub 3.

Meant to say Carl. Demented with WiFi networks at the moment. My mind is going.

What does the above site I linked to show?

For LAN

Hub 4 is 1139

Computer is 596

For WiFi is

Hub 4 is 1144

WiFi is 211

So you are getting full speed to the HUB.

WiFi is dependant on many factors, including what type of WiFi your device has.

I find that a lot of speed test sites are inconsistent.

Yeah. Full speed to that hub. It's transmitting lower speeds than my Hub 3 via WiFi.

Laptop is new. And can receive Upto 850MB WiFi based on the specs. Nothing else is connected.

May need to arrange an engineer to come out.

If you access the HUB and click on the 'Connected Devices' section what does the speed of the laptop show?

Example:

Device name MAC address IP address Speed (Mbps) Connected to

M2101K6G **:**:**:**:**:** 192.168.0.135 390 Wi-Fi 5G VM9160722

LAPTOP-5FEUNUJ6 **:**:**:**:**:** 192.168.0.106 1000 Ethernet

LAPTOP-5FEUNUJ6-2 **:**:**:**:**:** 192.168.0.61 263.3 Wi-Fi 5G VM9160722

So the two wireless devices are connected at 390Mbps and 260Mbps (Ish).

You then, roughly, work out the download speed by calculating two thirds of the above values.

As an example my mobile connects at 433Mbps and I get 280 - 300Mbps download speed.
