You're getting 300kbps?! That's alarming.. Cool name by the way! 🙂
First obvious thing would be to check all connections of the co-ax feed, make sure no equipment that could potentially create a lot of electrical noise is away from the Router as well. Are you connected to your VM Hub (router) via an ethernet cable or WiFi? As this could also be a result of heavy interference from other neighbours' WiFi!
Have you ever been instructed to run a line test or reset your Hub? And can you hop onto the status page of your router (usually 192.168.0.1 in your browser, in modem mode its 192.168.100.1) and copy/paste the details here? On a V4 you'll have to log into it, on a V3 it is just below the password request, labelled Router Status.
Also, can you run a speed test from speedtest.net and what is your result?
