Gig1 Speed to hub dropping multiple times per day

jordo2k1
On our wavelength

hey all.

got gig1 upgrade about two weeks ago and ever since then my internet speed drops to a crawl multiple times during the day.

when I notice the slowdown I normally test real speed and ookla. both report around 35mb dl.(including speed to hub in real speed).

when the service isn't slow and i test on reel speed I easily get around 1.1gb to hub speeds and 950mb speeds over ethernet to pc.

any ideas what could be causing the slowdowns? I didn't notice slowdowns like this before i upgraded from 500mb.

its really starting to take the mick.

Try checking with Area faults on 0800 561 0061 or if you have a VM landline 150 as small local faults are not listed on the VM status page.

Try a 60 second factory pinhole reset as below;
Remove any ethernet cables from the Hub and hold the pinhole reset switch for 60 seconds. Do NOT reboot the Hub, just let it do it's thing. Note you will need the passwords from the bottom of the Hub afterwards, so make sure they are legible.

Post the power levels, Pre and PostRS errors and network log from the Hub. Also setup a BQM to monitor your circuit www.thinkbroadband.com/ping

there are no reported issues in my area, yet as i write this my internet has gone down to around 30mb again (always seems to be around the same speed).

I've setup a bqm and will leave it running, hopefully the logs and data ive posted will maybe give a hint to the problem as im currently thinking of downgrading back to 500mb were there were no issues.

managed to speak to someone and they have booked the engineer for tomorrow, said there's a temporary stability problem that needs addressing ?

I have exactly the same symptoms, I'm on the 350mb package, but frequently see speeds drop to 40mb where it seems capped.

Had an engineer visit this morning who adjusted the connector into my Hub 4, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

I am running the Hub 4 in Modem mode, connected to a debian firewall. When I reconnected to a laptop, and power cycled the hub, I saw speeds of 350 consistently. I then reconnected the debian box, and saw consistent speeds of around 350mb for around 30 minutes, after which it has dropped again to around 40 / 42 consistently, which is where I'm sat now...

The capping seems to be popping up alot when I've been reading. I've been told no speed or usage management is used with the gig1 package but its funny how when my line speed drops its always about 40mb.

Engineer hopefully will fix the issue but if I have a similar issue to what your experiencing then I'm guessing this could be a bit of back and fourth until its resolved
