Gig1 - 0 Downstream DOCSIS 3.1 Channels

Defmech
Tuning in

Hi,

I got upgraded to Gig1 yesterday. However I'm not quite getting the speeds I expected. Samknows yielded 671mbps to the hub. From looking at other threads it seems the issue is related to the fact that I'm not getting any downstream DOCSIS 3.1 Channels.

I've tried online support but didn't get anywhere. Any suggestions for progressing this issue?

Cheers, Defmech

Hi @Defmech,

That's great to hear! Please keep the thread updated with more information about the resolution if you can.

Thanks,

Still no further forward with this. An engineer has been round and done everything he could at my end. Issue appeared to be at box on our street but I only got a second hand message that they could't find an issue there. Ultimately the issue seems to be related to the signal strength being too high.

Speeds are still 300 to 400 mbps off expected.

The missing 3.1 channel is probably not due to the signal strength.

Can you post your log? It may reveal something.

Is this the log?

Yes. There is nothing about the OFDM channel in there. There should be, if it was a signal issue.

Do you know, if other modems in your area are missing it too? Right now I'm thinking something is wrong at the headend, or your modem has an incorrect config file, if you are the only one.

Well the downstream power levels on 3.0 are too high for a start.

They need to be between -5 to +10.

I bit over is fine the hub can handle it

So if the Hub can handle it then what might the problem be? 🤔

They have yet to install a DOCSIS 3.1 Channel even the number of DOCSIS 3 channels is not 32

---------------------------------------------------------------

Excuse the ignorance, but where does the DOCSIS 3.1 channel get installed? At the box in my street? Further upstream?

It will be where fiber is converted to Docsis
