Drop in speed using IPVanish

Hard wired download speed, via Superhub 3, drops from >100Mbs to <10 Mbps when using IPVanish VPN.

Is this normal?

Is a VPN really needed?

Re: Drop in speed using IPVanish

Needed for what?

If you are accessing geolocked content, you may need a VPN with a gateway in the region its locked to. They can help with routing if you are gaming.

Other than that- your wasting your money.

Re: Drop in speed using IPVanish

Your speed will inevitably be lower using a VPN.  Some are worse than others.

It's not needed for an ordinary user...

If your a dodgy geezer, a VPN wont protect you....The expression "snake-oil" springs to mind...
